Part-time work rules
International students in Australia can work up to 48 hours per fortnight (2 weeks) during their study period. During scheduled course breaks, there are no restrictions on work hours – students can work full-time. Students on a master’s by research or doctoral degree have unlimited work hours. Work rights begin from the course start date mentioned on the Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE).
Post-Study Work Visa
The Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) allows graduates to live and work in Australia after completing their studies. The duration depends on the qualification level and location: Bachelor/Masters by coursework get 2 years; Masters by research get 3 years; Doctoral degree holders get 4 years. Studying and working in regional Australia can provide additional years on the visa.
