Part-time work rules
Work rules vary by country in Europe. In France, international students can work up to 964 hours/year (approximately 20 hrs/week). In Italy, students can work up to 20 hours/week during studies and full-time during breaks. In Switzerland, international students can work up to 15 hours/week during semesters and full-time during official breaks (after the first 6 months of study). In the Netherlands, students can work up to 16 hours/week or full-time during summer months (June-August).
Post-Study Work Visa
France offers a 1-year post-study residence permit (APS - Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour) to search for work, extendable if employed. Italy provides a 1-year job-seeker visa after graduation. Switzerland allows a 6-month job search period after completing studies from a Swiss university. The Netherlands offers a 1-year Orientation Year (Zoekjaar) visa for graduates to find employment. Many EU countries also allow skilled graduates to apply for the EU Blue Card for long-term work.
